The Deutsche Traun Traunstein stretch

In very limited numbers, we issue licenses for fly fishermen for the Deutsche Traun "Traunstein". The piece is 2.5 kilometers long and lies directly below the "Hochberg" stretch and above our Deutsche Traun "traditional" stretch. The route starts with the swimming pool bridge in Traunstein (24.8km) and leads down to the viaduct (22.7km). Varied in its flow the Traun is here crystal clear on the outskirts of Traunstein. In this stretch lies the large rock that gave the city its name. Directly in front of this big rock the trout lies in the deep pools. In addition, the route offers a lot, places and water changes which is highly interesting for the fly fishermen. On this part of the Traun, deep pools with bumpy banks, beautiful shallow and fast flowing stretches and sections of water interrupted by rocks alternate. Also in this beautiful section you can expect rainbow- and brown trout up to 60 cm in size. Even big grayling can occasionally be outwitted.

Fishing conditions

It is not allowed to fish with jig, streamers or bread-flies. Also, the attachment of split shots on the leader is prohibited. There is one fly per leader allowed. Chest-high waders must be pulled down to the waist (waist-deep waders and wading pants are also allowed). Of course you can only fish with a fly rod and with barbless flies.
