Die Praxis zeigt, daß die B.C. nicht nur als Sedge-Auskriecher, als Dun oder als Steinfliege genommen wird. Unter Wasser gezogen, kann man sie sogar als Aufsteiger fischen, mit Erfolg. Ein echtes Universal-Muster also. In Verbindung mit CDC-Körper- und CDC-Kopfhechel wird dieses Muster noch attraktiver - und wesentlich widerstandsfähiger. Denn die so fragil wirkenden Bürzelfibern sind ja viel robuster als sie aussehen und schirmen die doch recht empfindlichen Rehhaarfibern wirksam ab. Zudem verschleiern sie den Umriß der B.C. diffus, machen sie zum Allrounder schlechthin. Mit gelbem oder bordeauxfarbenem Körper imitiert meine B.C.-Version eine breite Palette von Wasserinsekten, insbesondere Köcher- und Eintagsfliegen-Stadien. Die Bordeauxrote in Größe 19 hat sich im Herbst als sehr fängige Äschenfliege hervorgetan. Die CDC-Buck Caddis wird entsprechend ihrem Einsatz trocken, im Film order auch dicht unter der Oberfläche gefischt.

This process develops in the water film as soon as the ascender has broken the surface tension and ends with the emergence from the nymph skin onto the water surface. It begins with the bursting of the nymph skin on the back of the ascender. Then the front body (thorax) with the still crumpled wings and feet of the dun pushes out of the chitinous shell. In this phase, the emerger appears as a voluminous balloon from a fish's perspective. This stage, in which the emergers drift completely helplessly, signals safe prey to the fish.The pattern tied with an overemphasized thorax using the 'loop wing technique' effectively replicates this relatively short phase. In accordance with the natural models, this phase imitation is fished calmly in the current. The air trapped between the CDC (Cul de Canard) fibers gives the CDC emerger excellent buoyancy. Therefore, it can be fished without problems even in rough water. In calm currents, it is recommended to present the pattern deep in the film. Sonnenschein und helles Wasser - helle Fliege. Bedeckter Himmel und dunkles Wasser - dunkle Fliege. Eine "Grundregel" aus der Lachsfischerei, die Ihnen sicherlich bekannt vorkommt. Doch konnte ich die Wirksamkeitdieses Leitsatzes längst auch beim Fischen auf andere Salmoniden machen. Auslöser über diese gewiß an unzähligen Lachsfischertagen empirisch gewonnene Erkenntnis nachzudenken, war ein Erlebnis an einem glasklarenÄschenfluß: Nachdem ich fast eine Stunde lang auf eine Äsche im knietiefen Wasser meine sämtlichen "Geheimfliegen" ausprobiert hatte, kam mir die alte Lachsfischerregel in den Sinn. Als letzte Hoffnung - eher skeptisch -versuchte ich eine Stillborn-Variante mit glitzerndem Silberkörper. Der Fisch kam beim ersten Service! Sind es Lichteffekte im Oberflächenfilm, die dieser Glitzer-Stillborn bei hochstehender Sonne eine besondereAnziehung verleihen? Das ist zu vermuten. Jedenfalls erweist sich diese Stillborn-Variante unter solchen Bedingungen als äußerst wirksam. Übrigens nicht nur auf Äschen! Gefischt wird die Grayling-Stillborn, genauso wie das Standard-Muster, d.h. ruhig abtreigend oder mit gelegentlichen kleinen Bewegungen.
